FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY FISHING OR BOATING, there is a great variety of opportunity and scenery. The waters of Grand Lake and wooded shorelines give hint of the Perch, Rock Bass, Small-Mouth, Walleyes, Tiger Muskies and Northern Pike. Panfish are usually easy to catch and plentiful(when fish are biting, as they usually are) while the bigger fish will challenge even the most experienced fisherman. Catching nice walleye is not usually too difficult, while bass pike reward the persevering. The best time for small-mouth bass is late June, early July, or September and early October. Walleye fishing is good from June thru September, Perch, Rock-Bass, and Sunfish bite almost anytime. Fishing is fishing is matter where you try your luck, and Grand Lake is as good as any lake in Michigan, and often better. Safe boats are available at Fireside, and at reasonable rates. Please bring your own motor (7 HP max) If you choose you may bring your own boat and use our convenient boat launching facilities.
